The intention was to transform the reception area of Torre Norte, a modern corporate building located in Mexico City, to create a welcoming atmosphere for both visitors and building locals. In the pitch stages, a key factor for winning the project was the approach on complementing the existing materials and elements instead of creating a completely new area; creating a balance between the building’s style and new elements that give warmth and harmony to the space.
We incorporated architectural elements in oak wood to create a contrast with the gray stone on the walls and floor of the space, instantly generating a warmer atmosphere. We proposed to lower certain elements, such as a wooden canopy and decorative lamps over the front desk, to create a sense of coziness. We added life and personality through a curated selection of modern furniture, rugs, and refurbished ottomans in a range of colors that evoke nature.
Potted plants were proposed to create a sense of well-being and reinforce the natural environment within the interior space, while also helping to create some privacy between the tables on the exterior terrace and the street.
